Validating Black African nurses’ lived experiences and knowledge systems as legitimate contributions to nursing scholarship, education, and practice.

Building bridges between diverse cultural groups through inclusive dialogue, respect, and collaboration to strengthen unity within the nursing profession and Australian society.
Mentorship, Networking, and Leadership Development
Establishing mentorship programs that cultivate leadership, resilience, and professional growth for emerging and experienced nurses.
Cultural Safety and Anti-Racism
Embedding Ubuntu-inspired principles and anti-racist frameworks in all areas of healthcare education, policy, and practice to foster dignity, empathy, and justice.
Research and Policy Reform
Advancing critical research and advocacy that expose systemic inequities, inform policy transformation, and promote equitable health outcomes for African communities in the diaspora.
Community and Collective Well-being
Building an inclusive, supportive, and empowering community grounded in mutual respect, solidarity, and shared accountability for change.
“Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu”
I am because we are.
This Ubuntu philosophy of interconnected humanity is the heartbeat of BAANA. We do not rise alone — we rise together.
This is more than a mission — it’s a movement.
Join us in transforming Australian healthcare into a space where Black African nurses are seen, heard, and empowered to lead.
