By becoming a member of the Black African Australian Nurses Association (BAANA), you affirm your commitment to our Preamble, Vision Statement, Mission Statement, Aims, and Tagline: “From Silence to Solidarity: Advancing Justice, Empowering Voice, and Promoting Social Cohesion in Nursing.” You agree to the following terms:
- Professional Empowerment & Integrity: Provide accurate professional qualifications, registration details, and documentation for verification, upholding the highest standards of nursing practice and BAANA’s commitment to epistemic justice and cultural safety.
- Advocacy & Solidarity: Actively contribute to dismantling systemic racism, institutional exclusion, and workplace discrimination, amplifying Black African nurses’ voices from silence to solidarity in alignment with our mission.
- Code of Conduct & Ubuntu Principles: Maintain professionalism, mutual respect, dignity, and empathy in all interactions, embedding anti-racist frameworks and Ubuntu-inspired values to foster social cohesion and collective well-being.
- Mentorship, Networking & Leadership: Participate in or support mentorship programs, safe spaces, and leadership development initiatives that nurture resilience, belonging, and equitable career progression for Black African nurses.
- Research, Policy & Community Engagement: Support critical research, policy reform, and community-led initiatives that expose epistemic injustice and promote equitable health outcomes, cultural inclusion, and structural transformation.
- Membership Obligations: Pay any applicable fees promptly; engage in BAANA activities with accountability; and refrain from conduct that undermines our vision of a racism-free, inclusive healthcare system.
- Suspension & Termination: BAANA may suspend or terminate membership for violations of these terms, failure to uphold our values, or actions that perpetuate marginalisation, silencing, or discrimination.
